Housing practice

Alongside my academic work I try to keep engaged with housing practice.

Bristol City Council Housing Management Board

Since March 2019 I have been the Independent Chair of the Bristol City Council Housing Management Board, which is a body that allows tenant and resident representatives to engage with senior housing managers and local authority councillors. The Board’s deliberations contribute to both strategic discussions and scrutiny.

Curo

Between October 2013 and September 2018 I was a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Curo Group. I sit on the Audit & Assurance Committee (2013-2017) and chaired the Governance and Remuneration Committee (2016-2018).

Curo is based in Bath and provides affordable homes, care and support across the South West. It owns more than 13,000 properties in the Bristol and Bath area, making it one of the largest landlords in the West of England.

Brunelcare

Between 2004 and the end of 2012 I was a member of the Board of Trustees of Brunelcare. For much of this period I chaired the Brunelcare Audit & Scrutiny Committee.

Brunelcare is committed to providing good, affordable and accessible housing, care and services for older people. At the core of our mission is providing care and choice for older people. We provide housing for more than 1,000 older people in Bristol, and care and support for many more in Bristol and the surrounding area.

Brunelcare is always interested in hearing from people who would be interested in supporting our work through volunteering or donations. So please get in touch. Click here for contact details.
